Data Convergence

It is increasingly difficult to distinguish real threats, theft and breeches of security from the collective surveillance "noise". Indicators and trends are often buried in the data making it extremely difficult to react or respond effectively. The long-awaited advancement in the application of technology for security is convergence. At SSS we call it 'dataveillance'.

The software creates a picture of the immediate potential threats to the business using multiple sources. By collecting, standardising and managing alarm, CCTV and access control systems and transactional data from a variety of unrelated platforms into a common database the system knits together pieces of what otherwise can be disjointed information.

For example if the perimeter detection is triggered and then a space detection device activates, alarm scenarios will be automatically created. By linking the intruder, CCTV and access control systems together this sequence of events could be more effectively evaluated. This type of data surveillance can broaden the scope of analysis to include BMS, and time and attendance systems for example.
